This is a trick that I heard about for speed-solving the middle layer edges
of Rubik's cube. It's really ingenious--it uses about 4 turns per edge
instead of 8, and doesn't require any algorithms! I've heard that many
competitors used this technique in the early 1980s, before Jessica Fridrich
came along with her "simultaneous F2L" method.
