Full Tilt Poker released a software update this week disallowing players from
the state of Washington from playing in real money games on its site. The
expected move comes in the wake of the Washington State Supreme Court
classifying playing poker online in the State of Washington a felony.
PokerStars.com had made the same move about a month prior and in a press
release Full Tilt addressed the matter to it users saying “This decision was
made following extensive legal consultation in relation to Washington Supreme
Court’s recent ruling on internet gambling. Our number one priority is, and
always has been, providing the best possible online poker experience to all
of our players, and it is with great regret that we make this announcement.”
Full Tilt Poker later goes on to encourage players to join the Poker Players
Alliance (PPA) and to “join the fight to keep poker legal.”
