SUPER Mario turns 25 today - having sold 240 million games worldwide.
The huge sales mean Nintendo's hero plumber is a bigger earner than Harry
Potter and more iconic than Mickey Mouse.
It is the biggest-selling video game franchise in history. A series of
celebrity TV ads starts tonight to mark the anniversary.
Mario has starred in more than 120 games, a cartoon and a film.
He started life as Jumpman in Donkey Kong and became Super Mario in 1985. He
was created by Shigeru Miyamoto, who won a Bafta fellowship this year.
